Matt Cohen, Partner

DSC_0017Matt Cohen is a Partner of City Light Capital. He is currently an Observer to the Board of both LicenseStream and City Light Carbon. Matt brings a blend of financial services and operating/start-up experience to City Light. Prior to joining City Light, Matt was an investment banker in the Global Industrials groups of Citigroup and Bear Stearns where he advised companies in a broad range of sectors on corporate strategy objectives, financing matters, recapitalizations, joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to his career in investment banking, Matt worked in asset management capacities at Bear Stearns and O’Shaughnessy Capital and was a founding member and Vice President of Business Development for Netfolio,Inc., a financial services start-up where he helped raise $40 million in funding, develop and implement the business plan and establish key partnerships.

In 2005, Matt created The Future Stars Partnership, an annual multi-day program that immerses inner-city high school students in college campus life in an effort to inspire them to stay in school and ultimately pursue higher education.

Matt has an MBA from Cornell University, where he was a Park Fellow, receiving a full-tuition scholarship for demonstrated leadership and commitment to community service and socially responsible business and a BA from the University of Connecticut where he double majored in Economics and Spanish.
