Bill Lyons is a Venture Partner at City Light Capital focused on the Energy and Environmental sectors. Bill brings over 24 years of experience in alternative energy, business management, operations, engineering and finance. Bill is currently the Managing Partner of Bowwave Partners, Inc, a consulting firm focused on tailored business and IT solutions.
Until recently Bill served as the President of the Climate Solutions group at AES which developed, built, owned and operated domestic and international projects to reduce or offset greenhouse gas emissions. At AES, Bill was a member of both their corporate executive and operating committees. Bill is well known as an innovator in the business application and implementation of greenhouse gas strategies and has spoken widely on the topic. Bill has served on the board of Doorways (formerly TACTS – The Arlington Community Temporary Shelter) – a non-profit in the greater Washington DC area serving battered spouses and is actively involved with Ambleside School – a K-8 Christian centered school.
Earlier in his career, Bill served as a National Director of Freddie Mac, where he formed and managed the Captial Markets Group, which developed credit derivative structures to manage the risk associated with a $1 trillion portfolio. Prior to that he served as a Managing Director at Bear Stearns & Co. as a trader of structured financial products. During his tenure at Bear Stearns, Bill was involved in over $30 billion of new issuances and over $200 billion in secondary trading activity.
Bill began his career in the US Navy operating nuclear propulsion power plants rising to the position of third in command of a Los Angeles Class fast-attach submarine.
